MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE

6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Sciences are integrated curriculum based, with an emphasis on exploration through research, projects, and hands-on labs and activities.  Students will be challenged to think critically, with the ultimate goal being a greater understanding of the impact of science on their everyday lives.

GRADING POLICY

Daily grades 1/3 (33%)--homework, quizzes, notebook
Test grades 2/3 (66%)--tests, labs, projects
* To average, the daily average is entered once and the test/lab average is entered twice, and the total is divided by 3.

   CLASSROOM RULES

1.  Be in your seat with your notebook and supplies, working on today's "Do now" assignment when the bell rings.

2.  Remain in your seat during instructional time unless given permission to move around the room.

3.  Remain quiet while the teacher or another student is speaking; raise your hand and wait to be recognized before speaking.

4.  Handle classroom materials with care, replacing them at the end of the lesson.  Remove your trash at the end of the class period.

5.  Speak only in a positive and encouraging manner to the teacher and your classmates.  Do not touch any student's books or materials without their permission.

CONSEQUENCES

First infraction--sign log book, warning

Second infraction-sign log book, letter sent home

Third infraction-45 minute detention--on FRIDAY

*Severe disrespectful or disruptive behavior will be handled by Coach King and/or Dr. Carey immediately.

MAKE-UP WORK

When absence is planned (i.e. sporting event, vacation), student is to have work completed on the first day back.  When unplanned absences occur, check the website and complete as you are able.  Students are to arrange make-up work with Mrs. Daly on the first day back.
